Mayor of Gate City Virginia

Well, it’s hard to believe but here we are starting the month of March and spring is around the corner!!    As we look forward to spring our minds begin to ponder new life springing forth and “sprucing up” our homes by landscaping and spring cleaning!!

I am excited about the coming months.  It appears the worst of COVID-19 may be behind us and we can begin to bring “new life” to our town as hopefully we can start having events to help bring people back to Gate City that will bring “new life” to our businesses that have struggled over this time of pandemic.

The town is trying to do its part in “sprucing up” our town with the purchase of new banners that we hope we can hang up before too long.   We have also purchased tables/chairs to place down Jackson Street for people to sit so they can enjoy the nice weather with their friends as the eat lunch, etc.  We hope to have those in place in the near future.  In the meantime, we hope you will take advantage of the “green space” area next CEI on Jackson Street.

We have completed putting the fence around Gateway Park on Hwy 23 and when the road work on Hwy 23 is completed it will help enhance the entrance into Gate City on that end of town.  The work is continuing on the Estil Cemetery project and we invite you either go by there and take a look at what is happening there or go to  https://www.facebook.com/EstilCemetery  and follow the progress there.

I commend the town council for their efforts in striving to continually make Gate City a better place to live.
