Sanitation Authority

The Gate City Sanitation Authority was established in conformance with a resolution adopted by the Gate City Town Council, of Gate City, Virginia on the 15th day of October, 1962; and in accord with the provisions of Section 15.1-1239 to 15.1-1270, inclusive, (Virginia Water and Waste Authorities Act.) of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended.

Its purpose is to treat waste water from the Town and its responsibilities include construction, operation, maintenance and improvement of the sewage collection system. The Town of Gate City partnership with the Scott County Public Service Authority lead to the creation of the Holston Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant. The system serves the residents and businesses of the Town of Gate City. The Authority meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
