The Scott County Sheriff’s Office will be implementing the following changes as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the Virginia Department of Health:

  • Officers will continue to respond to all emergencies.
  • When calling, please provide a call back number when contacting 9-1-1 or the non-emergency number 276-386-9111
  • Residents are asked to tell dispatchers if there is a sick person in their home when calling for aid and will be asked questions accordingly.
  • Officers will likely complete non-emergency reports without personal interaction.
  • If possible, residents are asked to be prepared to step outside of their homes to speak to law enforcement in an open environment.
  • The Scott County Sheriff’s Office administrative lobby will be closed to the public until further notice. We will have personnel here during the normal business hours and ask that you use the call box on the outside of the main entry.
  • Fingerprinting service is suspended until the lobby re-opens.
  • Crash reports can be requested through insurance companies by telephone or by mail. Should you need to contact the records office during the day call 276-386-7679. You can also contact the DMV.
  • Any other related office matters (FOIA request, Incident report copies, etc.) please contact 276-386-7679.

We will be evaluating these measures daily and as information and recommendations change we will act accordingly. Thank you for your patience and prayers as we work to protect our communities and each other.
