Dear Citizens and Friends of Gate City,

WOW!!  Things appear to show promise for Gate City!! The building that was the Antique store in Gate City, which has been empty for some time, now has a new owner!!  We are excited to see what new life they will bring to the building and our downtown area!!

Also, it appears that a couple of the other vacant buildings in the downtown area has sparked interest of some entrepreneurs. This could be an exciting time for Gate City!!  As we know success breeds success, so this could be the building blocks of greater things for Gate City!!

This spring/summer we hope to start the sidewalk project on Manville Road.  We finally received the Army Corp. of Engineers report on the flooding in Gate City.  We are now in the process of looking at funding options to implement some of the recommendations.  You will have to be patient, because sorry to say, this process takes years but at least we are taking steps in the right direction!!

Saturday, March 12th kicks off the start of our downtown events in Gate City with the Shamrock Shimmy from 4:00pm – 7:00pm!! This is a family friendly event with lots for the kids to do. There will be food trucks, inflatables, DJ bingo, street dance and much more.   Hope you will come out and join in the fun!!

Then Saturday, May 21 is the Gravel at the Gate 50-mile bike ride.  On Saturday, May 28th is the Jeep Jamboree!!  This has drawn a lot of interest.  Then of course this summer we will have our concert series!!  A time of fun and food in Gate City is just around the corner!!

Let’s all work together and make Gate City the best it can be !!
